The Sunday School program at First Church runs from 9:20 AM to 10:10 AM in the Center for Christian Education. The children are invited to attend the early worship service at 9:00 AM, and may leave to attend Sunday School after the Children's Sermon. Classes are available for Kindergarten through 12th Grade. General registration for Sunday School occurs in early September each year. Children of non-members are always welcome to join or attend Sunday School at first church.
Junior PF is a youth program for 7th and 8th graders, taking place on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Children of this age group find this program to be a lot of fun. Children of non-members are welcome to join the program. The Junior PF makes an annual retreat at the Silver Lake Conference Center in Sharon, Connecticut, which is run by the Connecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ. Children who have attended this retreat have reported that it was both fun and enlightening. Junior PF is run by Fred North, and many of the members attend Fred's 7th & 8th grade Sunday School class.
Senior PF is a youth program for grades 9 - 12 which takes place on Sunday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. This program is open to members and non-members and is very well attended. Senior PF is a very tight-knit group, now headed by Ruth Waugh, and they provide community service throughout the year. In the recent past, they have done their own fundraising with the help of many church members and were able to go on two mission trips to Puerto Rico working in home healthcare and one trip to the Dominican Republic (in conjunction with the Goshen Congregational Church) working to build a school and sports complex. The Senior PF indulges in many interesting and fun activities such as their annual ski trip to Mohawk Mountain in Northwestern Connecticut.
