Missions Board Update

October 2006

October 1st is Neighbors in Need Sunday. The NIN money collected is used by the UCC to address problems our neighbors face from natural disasters like Katrina, the problems of unsafe drinking water in Mexico, or the lack of affordable health care in US communities.  We do not have to look far to find folks without health insurance. Along with our prayers, money can be used by others to advocate for health care reforms here in the U.S. "Imagine -- another world is possible."

Thank you to everyone who has faithfully brought food in to fulfill our commitment to the Northeast Community Food Bank. We have met our goal of 100 items every month since February. This effort is helping to meet local hunger needs. For more global needs, our church is partnering  with Second Congregational Church and St. Mary's to do a CROP WALK on Sunday, Oct. 29th. Sign up to walk or sponsor a walker so that we can continue to fund efforts to feed refugees, and drill wells for clean water. We walk because others have to walk as much as 5 miles a day to get water. Sponsor sheets will be available following Oct. 8th's worship services.
